SFW is pleased to announce the opening of its first overseas office in Baroda (also known as Vadordra), in Gujarat, India on 4th February 2008. SFW India will house a core complement of development staff, specialising in Microsoft technologies, and will assist the SFW UK office delivering projects to its clients.
The opening of SFW’s own permanent base in India is the result of assessments to ensure that both the skills and infrastructure were in place to support the venture. The pre-work included establishing compatible business processes, and the delivery of pilot projects for proof of concept.
Baroda was chosen as there is now a distinct trend for established IT staff to move away from the main ‘Metro’ centres where 2 hour commutes are regularly necessary, to smaller regional centres. The Baroda office infrastructure and personnel functions are being managed by QuickstartGlobal which has also established similar operations for other Microsoft partners.
“Collaboration with offshore operations requires excellent communications links but has also been made significantly easier with the introduction of project tools such as Microsoft’s Visual Studio Team System, and Office Communications Server (OCS),” commented SFW Director, Peter Hornsby.
