SEEDA
Taking on, supporting and delivering key tools to assist regional development

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) is the Regional Development Agency for the South East and responsible for the sustainable economic development and regeneration of the South East of England.

Taking On, Supporting and Improving Key Tools

SEEDA operates 8 regional Innovations and Growth Teams (IGTs). These are essentially business incubation establishments, located throughout the South East and offer support, consultancy and mentoring to small and medium businesses, including helping them secure funding. The Client Management Tool (CMT), a 3rd party application used to manage and administrate many of the IGT core functions, was not performing optimally and SEEDA enlisted the services of SFW to take-on, support and enhance it.

Amongst a number of enhancements, SFW updated the core technology and redesigned the system architecture to improve system performance and responsiveness. It also identified redundant areas of functionality and used this to simplify reports and reporting.

The amendments improved robustness, performance, system longevity and availability as well as increasing productivity.

Delivering Applications to Meet Legislative Requirements

When SEEDA required a quick, practical solution that ensured compliance with a new legislative requirement to hold equality data on all of its employees for use in audits and statistical evaluations, it approached SFW to create the solution. Only 4 weeks after the original requirement was agreed, SFW delivered a SharePoint web part in the form anonymous surveys to capture and measure the data. As such the data was captured and reported on in time, so that SEEDA was compliant.
