Delivering an Intranet with collaboration and document management

The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is the driving force behind sustainable economic growth and regeneration in the East of England. A business-led government funded organisation sponsored by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), operating across six counties and with approximately 200 employees, it is one of nine regional development agencies (RDAs) focusing on economic development and building prosperity in the English regions.

Delivering A Solution that Increased Productivity

EEDA's existing intranet was not performing to desired levels. Document management wasn't easy and staff had difficulty locating  and accessing content. In addition, an organisational restructure meant that the intranet topology and services offered were incorrect. EEDA awarded SFW the contract for redeveloping the intranet to address these issues.

SFW provided EEDA with a scalable platform (SharePoint) that could extend to meet future requirements. Development included a number of key improvements to site structure and the administration and usage reporting elements as well as integrating the intranet with other key enterprise applications. It also included the introduction of a simple and effective document storage and management facility, links to a wide variety of internal and external resources, collaboration facilities and remote access for all staff. 

As a result of these enhancements, the redeveloped Intranet prompted an increase in staff satisfaction and an increase in staff productivity.
