Delivering EDRM and Collaboration tools with SharePoint

Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition. With over 160,000 members, the charity works for people with diabetes, their carers, family and friends and represents the interests of all people with diabetes by lobbying the government for better standards of care and the best quality of life. Diabetes UK's mission is to improve the lives of people with the disease.

Increasing Productivity, Collaboration and Information Discovery

Diabetes UK needed a document management system that better reflected its current needs and offered dependable search functionality and that could extend, flex and scale in line with the charity's own evolution. SFW, partnering with knowledge management consultants TFPL, created a solution using SharePoint which was rolled out by the beginning of January 2010.

Diabetes UK is currently undertaking a post-implementation analysis and benefit review, however, staff are already taking advantage of the additional collaborative functionality which improves communication between geographically dispersed staff members and recognising the improvements in the enhanced search functionality, which gets them to what they need to find quicker. Alongside this, Diabetes UK now has a system which meets the core needs of its staff and which they feel confident and capable of using.
