After graduating from the University of Glasgow with a degree in Computing Science, I was keen to try working near London and experience the buzz of the Capital. I searched several online recruitment websites and found an advert for SFW, a company promising to encourage and reward employees for progressing their professional qualifications through Microsoft exams. SFW sounded like what I was looking for, so I applied.
I was contacted by the HR manager who informed me that the directors were interested and wanted to invite me to interview. I was interviewed by each of the directors, Steve and Peter. Both were reasonably relaxed interviews, although Peter occasionally joked about the number of questions I asked. At the time of the interviews, I had already been accepted for a similar job in the South of England and knew that it was going to be a tough decision if SFW was interested.
I received a phone call from Steve shortly after the second interview, inviting me to join SFW. The opportunities for working in London and with different technologies were greater with SFW, so I accepted. With all of the experience I have now gained, I’m sure I made the right decision.
My first few weeks involved working with XML forms and testing but shortly after that I began working for a client in central London programming in .NET, the technology I had been hoping to get involved with at SFW.
