Work on recruitment and retention pays off – SFW wins award for best employment figures
SFW is the local employer with the highest rise in staff numbers, according to recent research by Decision magazine for Woking Borough Council (WBC).
The company was announced as winner of the Woking Business Achievement Award for best year-on-year improvement in employment, jointly sponsored by WBC, Hamlyns and Arcom IT.
Woking is gaining attention as one of the UK’s thriving business hubs and a magnet for ‘young aspirers’,” says SFW Co-Founder, Peter Hornsby, who with his business partner Steve Elliot, chose the location for the company’s HQ as it was a place both could reach easily. “It has excellent rail and air links, the potential for great quality of life, and is technologically advanced - the first Surrey town to receive 4G.”
SFW shares its home with household names including McLaren Formula 1, SAB Miller (owners of Fosters, Grolsch, and Peroni) and the World Wildlife Fund whose landmark Living Planet Centre is one of the greenest buildings in the UK and a feather in the cap for WBC, the most energy efficient local authority in the country.
“Our proximity to the capital, whilst generally a great advantage, can be challenging in the employment market and we have to work hard to attract top talent,” says Dushy Stevanic, SFW HR Manager. “But we often win out on variety of work, excellent work-life balance and just because candidates like the people they meet at interview!”
WBC Chief Executive, Ray Morgan and local MP Jonathan Lord announced the award winners at a ceremony on 29th January 2015 at the Living Planet Centre in Woking.
